Im mulling over the idea of perhaps writing scripts for flash cartoons and working with animators, idk, I'm definitely no artist, nor do I have the time or money, but I love this site so would love to contribute creatively, and I love writing.

drum effects were phenomenal, and the way u did the symbols was really cool.
and as a whole it sounded good,
but i felt that it stayed disjointed for too long, 1:54 to 7:31, it had a similar, nervous disjointed sound, which made sense and was enjoyable for a while, but became a bit annoying. The joy of Prog is having that reward in a song, that moment where things come together and the tension releases. u just hold the tension for too long, and dont build it up in a clear way. the release at 7:31 is fantastic, its just to far away.
but this is close to being really great, and of course ur keyboard playing and manipulation of tones is fantastic.

a different style then we're used to, and there some really interesting synth work going on. I like the mood you incorporate in the beginning. and the build is incredible.
and the percussion is fantastic, of course. Since i've been hounding u about that lulz. it really is a massive step up from ur previous stuff, very intricate and timed well. Overall this piece hits the right notes when it needs to, well done!
I love this right now. keep it up!

havent you used that riff before?! maybe i lissened to this and different review...im having epic deja vu. this whole song is familiar, the break down and ever. whatevs
this is still a gr8 song. and keep doing prog rock cause thats what i like! I would like to hear more complex drumming, something more than beat. but this is a gr8 song and it just keeps getting better when heard. awesome soloing. the end is extremely involving as well.
Author's Response:
lol I did have this song up as "You're a Toaster." I thought the idea was really dumb so I completely scraped the concept and remolded it into this. While the idea was retarded, I thought the music was still pretty tight so I couldn't let that go to waste haha. It sounds almost exactly the same with a slight change in production and some parts where cut out so it wouldn't drag, as well as the middle section being replaced by the solo.
So yeah. That's probably why it's familiar sounding.
Stop hounding me about the lack of complex drumming! I'm doing the best I can, dammit! Though since "Ngorongoro Monster," I did learn a few things about complex rhythms. I'm probably gonna add more drum kits and percussion sets to my songs in the near future.

Simplicity with a growing depth. I absolutely <3 this haha. And I'm not gonna say anything else cause I have nothing bad to say, brilliant rhythm.

"and epic showcase of your talent"
theres not much i can say, this is just a great keyboard shred, but with composure, just like you said.
the only thing i noticed was the bass could have been just held down and drawn out, rather than tapped during the fast bits. 10/10!
love the sudden stop btw.
Author's Response:
I decided not to hold the bass because this keyboard tone is so unstable as you can tell that even little things like holding the bass can muck up the whole thing, especially the fast section.

see! compare this drumming with the drumming in wild car ride (wrote that review first), and you'll see what I mean. Im a sucker for complex drumming that adds more than beat, thats why Gavin Harrison appeals to me so much. but anyways,
I too would like to hear more melodic solos sometimes. something slow that you take your time with, but the solos in this flow well, and I enjoyed them more than in some previous work. that high pitched solo at around 2:10 is the best, flows very nicely. theres a gr8 variety of different keyboards in here and it makes for a very interesting and catchy song. I really like this song, and have little to dislike about it. excellent work!
P.s. you should try incorporating some samples sometime! like cool lines from movies or other archive stuff. I think u know what I mean.
and hey, forget genres man, im just gonna call this a cool jazzish song and leave it at that.

this is a neat blend of techno and your normal prog-metal sound. the bass drive is gr8 and your transitions are really nice this time around. I especially like that you slow down at around 3 min, something Im not used to hearing from you when your in the middle of a fast jam like this. though the piano work could have been more dramatic and remarkable, it was a nice touch. And the finishing keyboard riff was great, excellent work making that phase from left to right.
my only complaint is that the synthdrumming is lackluster. especially at the beginning, where that lone cymbal feels a bit awkward. Its not bad but its not amazing like the keyboard work.
cant wait to hear more from you!

i will let you know via review cause this is fantastic!
2:15, the change their is excellent prog work, and that undulating synth in the background works perfectly.
plus theres more progression in this then some of your others which i love.
3:40, the hip-hoppish drums were a nice touch.
i really dont have anything negative to say. your solos were more cohesive than usual, they flowed with the piece very well, and you incorporated some many different tones it never got boring!
but above all, it highlights how talented of a keyboard player you are!
the only complaint i can force out is that your ending is a little cliche, ive never been a fan of the fade out, and im glad its not as common as it was back in the 70's. but i dont think youve done it before and it works fine, just a personal taste complaint.
Author's Response:
Haha! Thanks, mate! I thought you'd like that one since it's all prog!
This time, the solos were all composed. As you could probably tell, I usually just wing it when I solo. I made sure they really harmonized with the notes and went with the flow. Made every note count.
And I understand your thoughts on the fade out. The maniac's marchin' on! I didn't know how to end it so I just did what every lazy musician would do: fade out. And I have done the fade out before: Wanderer Above the Sea of Fog. And I can't remember the last time a song of recent years faded out lol

i love the bass, the way the percussion progresses, and your melodies flow remarkably. definitely your best effort in a while, this is one of my fav's and i look forward to your lissning to your prog epic!
the ending of this song is amazing, the tone on that synth is lovely and dramatic.

this is a nice jazz tune, tho it is pretty disjointed. I like the distorted organ quite a bit, but something about the piano's tone bothered me, it was kind of harsh, maybe to sharp or something? idk. i think more of a contrast between a softer, more mellow piano and that harsh awesome organ work wouldve been better, but this is still another gr8 song and 3.47 is a bit harsh. ill be sure to desktop this and vote it up every day. oh and that final note by the organ was a cool finish.
take it easy, enjoy the city life.
Author's Response:
About the piano: I agree. It can be softer but I have this terrible tendency to play loudly because I have really strong fingers, as well as a loud, powerful style of improvising. Thelonious Monk, one of my jazz piano heroes, also has this problem. He can overshadow the lead soloist with his own comping so when it's time for someone to take a solo, he just leaves the stage XD Anyway, I'll try and fix the production soon.
About the score: It got zero-bombed... which means someone simply gave it a zero out of spite, jealousy, or just to be an asshole. There's lots of people on this site that actually do that shit to animators and musicians all the time. This piece once had an awesome score of 4.73 the day I uploaded it. Yesterday morning, I woke up to it being 4.16, then 3.47 this morning. To me, that's no coincidence. Apparently, someone has it in for me... I really appreciate your effort trying to restore the score, though. Thanks :)
